ESR1. Development of Polymer Blend Nanocomposites (PBNANOs) from Recycled Plastics
Recruiting Institution: University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU)-POLYMAT (Spain, 18 months) Secondment Institution: Borealis (Austria, 18 months)
Sebastian Coba
Early Stage Researcher
Sebastian Coba is a Chemical Engineer from university Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Bogotá, Colombia with a Master degree in nanostructured materials from the university of Zaragoza. During his bachelors’, he worked in conductive polymers with graphene. After graduation he was named as mass balance teacher in the engineering faculty and also was a member of BioNanoEng group in the same university. He has done his master’s degree thanks to the Fundación Carolina Scholarship, where his thesis was focused on the production of nanofibers from different polymers with electrospinning technique. Those nanofibers were thought for a variety of applications such as in catalysis and in water treatment.
His current research activity is based on the production of Polymer blend nanocomposites (PBNANOs) from recycled plastics. He is passionate about sustainability and innovative materials to build up a better society.
ESR2. Crystallization of recycled polyolefin blends: from molecular characterization to processing
Recruiting Institution: University of Genova (Italy, 18 months) Secondment Institution: Borealis (Austria, 18 months)
Magdalena Gora
Early Stage Researcher
Magdalena Góra is a polymer engineer, she obtained her Bachelor in Chemical Technology and Master in Material Engineering, specialized in polymer technology, from GdaĆsk University of Technology. During her studies she worked in the Polish Academy of Science (PL), Recticel (UK) and SABIC (NL), where she wrote her master thesis about new manufacturing methods and materials for polymeric nanomembranes. After graduation she took a position as Junior Scientist in the Austrian Institute of Technology where she worked on the development of chemical sensors based on conductive polymers.
Her current research activity is mainly focused on the crystallization of recycled polyolefin blends, their molecular characterization and processing. She is also passionate about practical polymer technologies, such as 3D-printing, and making the polymer industry more sustainable as well as learning about the business side of the industry.
ESR3. Use of commercial block copolymer for recycled polymer blend compatibilization
Recruiting Institution: Borealis (Austria, 18 months) Secondment Institution: University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU)-POLYMAT (Spain, 18 months)
Andromeda Scoppio
Early Stage Researcher
Andromeda Scoppio is an Industrial Chemist with a M.Sc. in Polymeric Materials, took with mention at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in December 2019. She has done her Master´s Degree research internship in the same University, where she worked mainly on the characterization of polymeric materials such as biopolymers, gaining skills in several techniques for the study of thermal, mechanical and morphological properties of these systems. Moreover, during her internship she was involved in tutorial activities for Bachelor students and participated to the writing of a scientific article, then published. Currently her research interests are in the field of recycled polymeric materials and their advanced characterization. As a matter of fact, she is particularly passionate and curious about innovative materials, green chemistry and sustainability.
